America Does Know The Difference Between Fact And Fiction
In a somewhat surprising bit of news yesterday, a new poll conducted by Bloomberg News reported that the majority of Americans have rejected outrageous claims by conservative opponents of health care reform as nothing more than scare tactics.
63% don’t believe in “death panels”.
59% don’t believe that care would be rationed.
52% don’t believe that we are on our way to socialized medicine.
61% don’t believe that government money would be used for abortions.
58% don’t believe illegal immigrants would receive government money for health care.
You can see the entire poll here. If these numbers are accurate then there is hope that Americans have seen through the propaganda machine of the Conservative Clown College. A witty comment like “my faith in my fellow citizens has been restored” would seem to be appropriate but I never really lost faith in the first place. America got fooled twice by the George W. Bush and the rest of the Republicans and they aren’t interested in trusting them so easily again. Besides, most of America knows in their gut that health care reform is necessary. It has just become way too important in too many people’s lives to let it to get punted around like a political football by Republicans.
