The Conservative Drumbeat Of Violence Marches On Without Apology
Yesterday at Newsmax.com, they published a story written by John L. Perry outlining the justification and strategy for a military coup to overthrow the duly elected President of the United States of America. He wasn’t talking about Kim Jong Il or Fidel Castro. He was actually arguing for the overthrow of President Barack Obama. Here are some lowlights of the piece.
“Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would do the serious business of governing and defending the nation. Skilled, military-trained, nation-builders would replace accountability-challenged, radical-left commissars. Having bonded with his twin teleprompters, the president would be detailed for ceremonial speech-making.
Military intervention is what Obama’s exponentially accelerating agenda for “fundamental change” toward a Marxist state is inviting upon America. A coup is not an ideal option, but Obama’s radical ideal is not acceptable or reversible.”
You can call it Anti American, Anti Constitution, Treasonous or just plain garbage. The real problem is that it is just one more step by the conservatives towards delegitimizing this President in the eyes of the radical right wing. They know that the more people think Obama is a danger to the country, the more likely somebody will take it upon themselves to commit an act of violence against him. Remember, this happened the same day that a Facebook poll was asking if the President should be killed. This is after armed protesters have shown up at Presidential events. And this is after hour upon hour and day upon day of constant FOX Fantasy News and radical right wing talk radio pounding of the President’s policies, personality and yes, race.
Where is the rational voice of the conservative movement? Who in the Republican Party will stand up and denounce the hate and the demonization? Not Michael Steele. He’s too busy criticizing the President for trying to bring the Olympics to Chicago. Not the Republican members of Congress. They are too busy calling him a liar on national TV. Not the Republican Governors. They’re too busy either running for President, having affairs or calling for secession. In fact, it is the lack of rational, reasonable Republicans who are capable of leading and not just following that allows this venom masquerading as patriotism to rise to this level.
I hope that the Secret Service is investigating Mr. Perry. I hope he is already in jail. I hope that somebody who hates American as much as he does is forced to leave its shores.
