I think that both parties have staked out positions that may frighten some people into voting for the other side. For example, the Ryan Budget plan will be the major topic during our next Senatorial election here in Nevada. Dean Heller is the only man in the country who voted to "end Medicare" twice. He will have to defend those votes and the entire election may depend on whether he is successful or not. The pendulum always swings both ways. The difference these days is that it just may be swinging faster then ever. Also, I'm not sure if the Tea Party is really winning the middle. The polling says that they are officially less popular then atheists.

I buy what your're saying, but after the loss of the Senate seat in Massachusetts; the loss of the house seats in New York and Nevada; and the lack of support for Obama from the middle ground, maybe the Democratic party needs to take a look at their own position, and determine if the progressive wing is any more popular with the middle than the Tea Party; right now it looks like the Tea Party is winning the middle.

I agree, and its not just you that feels this way. For all those that cheered when they announced that President Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize, there were those scratched their heads and asked if this reward was appropriate. I liked your take on the international community becomeing exstatic over Obamas election as we were and thats why they gave it to him prematurly, but their move turned out to give fuel to the radical right and their smear campaign. Right wing talkshows pounced some said it was a bribe from foreign powers, others used his acceptance of the prize as a case for his illigetimacy in office.
The prize came too soon, I whole heartly believe that Obama plans to Keeps his promises to the Americans on his foreign policy strategies, but rewarding someone the gold metal before they cross the finish line seems inappropriate and tactless.

Rush Limbaugh and others of his kind are the scorge of the media. Limbaugh provokes desent and racism and wants to turn all that listen to him into hate filled bigots like he is. If Obama wanted to do anything to help those suffering from the wake of a natural disaster, Rush would say that its a political move to fool Americans. Limbaugh has this senile paranoia of a revolution only he and his kind can see. A supposed revolution to overthrow capitalism and christian law. Its for this reason that no matter what the liberals and progressives do to ensure a free and equal America, Limbaugh will always be there to accuse the left of trying to overthrow the "real America" and erect some kind of new order where people are punished for succes and whites are subjegated.
Limbaugh alone is crazy, but you can't forgot others that work to spread the seeds of desent right along with him. Others in his ranks like Glenn Beck, are just as willing to lie to and coerce their audience to believe that this administration is planning to take your money away, takeover private business, nationalize the media (and I wish they would because someone needs to shut them up), and socialize healthcare. They turn reforms and twist them into schemes to turn America communist.
It makes me sick because in their hypocrasy they tell their listeners that the left is lieing to them, but anyone that knows what is really going on the left and the educated moderates, knows the truth that it is the radical right that will lie to those that put their trust into the wrong hands.

I too had a deep respect for John McCain, even if are views on policies were polor oppisites. He was a man the fought for his country, survived as a POW, and continued to work for his country afterwords by representing his constituents in Arizona as a United States Senator in Congress. However, this "maverick" has along with the rest of his party drop bi-partison tactics in favor of obstuctionism and pandering to their new republican tea party base. The man that campaigned in 2008 as the maverick that would cross party lines to help this country is gone and I fear he isnt coming back. He has so far renounced his "maverick" title, which broke my heart because it was that part that even a hard core lefty like myself could respect.
Little an awkward teenager, John McCain is suffering from peer pressure. When the Republican party changed and moved towards the radical right and with the Tea Party movement, McCain followed obediently behind, comprimising his long held stances on bi-partisonship.
